I've been on the maintenance P3 for about 2 weeks, 1 more week to go. It was a little scary at first, but everything has smoothed out. I am staying at 168. I have introduced CHEESE!!!!! fresh cheese, cottage cheese, cream cheese, fried cheese AND I LOVE IT! Greek yogurt, raw peanut butter! I have been eating salad and apples still but I seem to crave them. I have not added many veggies, I need to because my [bowels] are just not moving as they should. I take 3 magnesium pills and drink my "smooth move" tea each day.
Things have just been so busy --- getting Koltn on his mission--- family pictures, rogers party, Jrogers party, making tamales (by the way, I haven't even tasted one!) that I really don't notice that I am not eating. But... yesterday I got so hungry -it seemed like all day long! I just couldn't eat enough. But when I weighed this am... 168.4. so it was all good. Still drinking water, but probably not as much since it is colder outside. Its a little hard to drink flavored ice water.
Here is a pic of me right now.
So I made it through Thanksgiving. I ate a large portion of salad, some turkey. I was kinda craving the mashed potato and gravy. I took one little piece of turkey and dipped it in the gravy- then felt guilty! But in general, I didn't get upset about not eating the whole sheebang of a meal! I even made Tamale's for three days for Xmas presents, and didn't even taste one. Hope they taste okay to everyone else! Woke up this am. feeling kinda bloated. Haven't been to the bathroom for a few days and think I am maybe clogged up a little. I took some tea and magnesium. yesterday and it didn't work. So I took more this am..... black poo! really thick and oh my......... I need cleaning out!
REMINDER TO SELF- take mag every day!!
HCG Diet Phase 3 weeks 1-3 In the first 3 weeks of Phase 3, you may eat anything you'd like except starches and sugars, but the amount that is eaten is controlled by your morning wieght. The bodyweight should become stable and should not have dramatic swings upward after an occasional intake of excess calories. Accoridng to Dr. Simeon, "If no carbohydrates whatsoever are eaten, fats can be indulged in somewhat more liberally and even small quantities of alcohol, such as a glass of wine with meals, does no harm, but as soon as fats and starch are combined things are very liable to get out of hand. This has to be observed very carefully during the first 3 weeks after the treatment is ended otherwise disappointments are almost sure to occur." It is important to eat an adequate amount of protein and enough food. A good rule of thumb, is to double your intake of protein and triple the amount of calories. Instead of 2 servings of 3.5 oz. of protein (100g), you would have 2 servings of 7 oz. (200g), with a daily target of about 1,500 calories. These numbers would be adjusted based upon your hunger and daily weigh-in to maintain your weight in the 4 pound target range. (+/- 2)
So, today I am going to try some new foods. I am crispying up some cheese to see what it is like and if it fills me up..... I've also made more Chocolate Delite- yum!
Gouda, jack and muenster and good old cheddar. I've cooked in the oven until bubbly and then let it cool. Oh my-delish and I ate 3 slices. I've decided to track my calories on sparks so I can track what I eat and drink. Link here
So according to the internet I could eat 1834 calories a day to "maintain" my weight.
This is soooo wrong. I think. But maybe this is where I go wrong.
According to the HCG diet, I should be eating 60% of these calories in protein. Let see where that leaves me.....
So far today here is what I've eaten: To figure out the % of food I eat in protein, do I divide the calories 641 divided by 29? that comes out to 22.1. Not sure if that is correct. Will have to do more research!
slowly trickling off.
Now have only one day left of shots.
Then have 3 days of the diet and then 3 weeks of adding protiens only.
then 3 more weeks of adding a few starches.
NO NO NO! I am a little afraid of it.
Today while I was walking/running with Candice, it was a little nice to feel my legs not scraping up against each other as I was walking. My legs had a little "air" in between them as I walked.
I heard on the radio today that Hi Health carries HCG--and they are having a sale of 20% off and an extra 10% off if you mention KEZ.......
should I purchase now?
Soooooo scary to go off the diet and I haven't reached my goal weight.......
Still a little disappointed that my BMI is still in "overweight" and almost "obese" phase!
I was also thinking that this time last year I weighted 220 lbs. That makes 50 lb weight loss for the entire year.
Not too shabby, but what was I thinking letting myself get that big?
Went to SYTYCD last night. Totally forgot to eat before I went. Oh my those Nacho's looked tempting. But a second look at them kinda made me sick. Just oozing...... All I could see was dripping oil!
Wasn't too much to pass them up. Kisha and Kelsey got a hot dog and popcorn and drink. I passed.
Had a great time..... but was starving when I got home, but passed the kitchen and went straight to bed.
One fear I am having is that I am not hungry. I do not crave food unless I miss eating my meal. I am so worried about my appetite after the shots are done in 4 more days. Its the appetite and craving that will do me in.
When I weighed this am, I can see my short term goal for being under 170 for family pictures. But I still have another 20 lbs to loose. I looked on the web yesterday and realized that 170 lbs for 5'5" is considered OBESE!!!! Oh my.... I must have been at deaths door at 220. my BMI is 29.0
Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
Overweight = 25–29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
(CBS) Are fat people better at sniffing out food? That's the suggestion of a new study from England. It found that overweight people - those with a high body-mass index (BMI) - are better at detecting to food odors than people with a low BMI. And high-BMI types have even greater "olfactory acuity" after they've eaten that before, according to the study. In other words, they're still open to temptation by pleasant aromas even if they have a full belly. Is that why overweight people have such trouble fighting off temptation - that they're tempted by food aromas thin people can't even smell? The study involved 24 nonsmokers between 18 and 49 years of age. It was conducted at the University of Portsmouth and published in the journal Chemical Senses. The body mass index can give a good indication of whether a person is overweight. A BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 is considered normal. A BMI over 30 is considered obese.
I have been having trouble going to the bathroom. At Sara's suggestion I purchased Magnesium pills and B vitamin (sub lingual) and some Triple Leaf Tea Herbal Laxative Team for Gentle Effective relief. If I take 2 mag ills and drink the tea with some other tea for taste, I go. It feel much better.
I wake up in the am and feel my tummy smaller. I feel my rings and shoes fitting loser, and I love those feelings. Yesterday went to lunch w/Candice and Peg. We all got a Mango/Chicken salad. Except mine turned out to be a salad with grilled chicken. It was pretty yummy.
I wore my blue jeans w/a silver belt, a white tucked in shirt, and my black and white jacket.
It was wonderful to fit into those clothes.
I am lovin' this even though it is pretty hard work.
I have not been eating supper at all. I have been eating an apple about 5pm, and then melba toast about 7pm.
Thats it.
Still have that short term goal to be at 170 before Thanksgiving.
6.5 lbs to go....... 12 days.
A lb every other day is not good enough for me for right now.
I want to be loosing a lb a day ---
I am eating two snacks and one meal of protein and veggies.
Trying not to eat in the evening.
With so little eating and exercising every day for 45 minutes I should be loosing a lb a day.
Why am I disappointed?
Am I an overachiever?
Am I too critical?
At least I am not gaining- but I feel for the amount of work I am doing I should be losing more.
I am loosing inches. My clothes, my jewelry, even my shoes are looser.
Why do I feel it hard to give myself a pat on the back?
Last night was kinda difficult. Beau Kelsey Lauren & Koltn went to get yogurt and came back with filiberto's.
the smell was not so appealing and watching Kelsey eat the nacho's was a little sickening. But, every commercial on TV was about food. Appealing food. I was really hungry and really wanted some yogurt. But I told myself that "thinner feels better than any food tastes". I will have the will power while I am on the shots, but what will happen after there are no shots? What will my eating habits be like?
Each day I can count the many times I would have just "put" something into my mouth and it is amazing how much I eat not eating. Luckily I catch myself and either spit it out or don't even eat it.
Got this article from Sparks: Are you afraid to try or are you afraid to fail?
A well-lived life is not for the timid. The world was never meant to be approached with extra caution and fear of making mistakes. Kids know that you have to jump in feet first and be willing to take some lumps on the head if you're going to have any fun. When did we stop trying new things? Why did we stop taking risks? In large part, we're afraid of messing up. We've settled into our comfort zones and don't want to look like a fool to ourselves or others. What's the price we pay for our pursuit of perfection? No growth, no sense of discovery, few real experiences. The sacrifice isn't worth it. Are there points in your life that you wish you could have back because you didn't pursue an idea or a new interest? Those chances are gone forever--but you'll have more in the future to take full advantage of. It's been said that most people don't learn much that's new past their 20s. That's an awful long time to stay stagnant. The only mistake you should be afraid to make is not trying. To swear off mistakes is very easy. All you have to do is swear off having ideas.
Today is another day- its a good day, I feel great and I'm glad to be alive!
Happy Anniversary to my husband, well it was actually yesterday. 11/5/1976.
That makes us married 34 years
179.2 total. I am very exited to be in the 70's.
I have been eating a little less.
Yesterday:
6AM Apple breakfast
3PM nothing else until dinner -5 tacos' from Del taco. Removed the meat and lettuce and was full when done.
5PM Apple and melba toast.
I am still walking/running every am. for about 1 hr.
New goal is to be at least 170 or less for Family pictures around thanksgiving time.
That is in 2.5 weeks.
Yippppeee! WOW Zowie!
Down a little more and starting to feel it again.
It's exciting when you see lbs dropping off.....
gotta keep going!
Was soooooo tempted to drive thru Burger King. I hadn't eaten dinner and was a little hungry driving to Kisha's house for babysitting. I have to drive right by burger King and the smell was awesome. But...... I stood my ground, and had an apple at Kisha's house for dinner. Yeah me!
Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. (not skinny yet but on my way!)
It has been a rocky road. No weight loss for quite a few days but I've been vigilant about staying on the calories and shots. I was beginning to think my scales were off. Just about when I'm thinking about giving up, today registered a loss.
Been eating cabbage and salad stuff twice a day, two fruit snacks, and two melba toast snacks.
Drinking lots of water and some tea.
It's bizarre that I didn't loose more.
Walked 5-5:45AM
7am Breakfast apple
9am Snack melba toast
10:30 Lunch fish & cabbage
3PM Snack orange & melba toast
6PM Dinner chicken & tomato
Had a lot more energy today. I am still not sleeping really well. I actually felt like doing a little exercising this evening. Only one bowel movement since I started. A little nervous about that. But I am peeing all the time. I am drinking two of the 32 oz cups of water or tea, and about 2 or 3 water bottles just about every day.
Shot- gave my shot a little lower more in the hip bone area and it was achey all day.
Arms are still a little draggy..... not sure what's up with that.
9:30- ready for bed.
188.6 no weight loss. dilemma.
no walking
Bfast-orange
snack melba toast
no lunch
snack orange
supper cabbage and beef (from beef & brocolli-no sauce)
I didn't exercise again today-this should tell me if the result remains the same as far a no weight loss. Didn't think anyone was coming over for sunday dinner. I was a little nervous about having a "big dinner" but everyone did come. I fixed beef and brocolli and just ate the beef out of the sauce. I drained off the gravy.
188.6 Sat. was pretty good.day. I had more energy than previously but for some reason my arms feel like lead weights. Almost like I can't lift them-or it really takes an effort to move them. I didn't walk because it was Sat, and I attribute the no weight loss due to that fact. Also attribute it to sitting my butt on the coach and watching two movies. I shopped without purchasing anything but enjoyed the alone time. Kelsey and Kisha went to the state fair. They wanted me to go with but I felt I would be too tempted to eat some of that delicious fried fattening food. After I reach my goal weight, and have learned to eat smaller portions, I may have a bite or two. But that would def. be the only thing I eat that day.
When I wake up in the morning I feel refreshed and feel thinner. My boobs have really begun to sag- and my clothes are feeling a little bit looser. But no really massive changes yet.
6:30 Woke up
8AM Breakfast-apple
10 AM Snack melba toast
12:30 Lunch Cabbage & chicken
6PM Snack Orange
7:30 PM Supper fish and cabbage
Woke up 6:30. Bathroom and then weight.
188.6!!!! Another big smile day. I thought for sure it would only be 1 lb loss day but it was over 2 lbs. Maybe thats because I am so fat!!!
Yesterday was my day off. I ran some errands, shopped, and worked on a few projects. Kisha Lincoln Owen, kelsey and I were all here and it was a very hectic afternoon. While I was out shopping I felt listless and had no energy. I didn't feel terribly hungery but thought of food most of the time I was gone. I need to get "food" out of my mind. I opened a package of candy corn to put out on the table and felt myself reaching for one to pop in my mouth. I was cleaning the kitchen and found a 1/2 empty pop can, decided it should go in the fridge and found myself putting my lips to take a drink. Several other times during the day I felt myself unconsciously almost putting something in my mouth. But luckily I stopped myself. When it came to lunch I was soooo hungry. I think I waited too long between breakfast and lunch. Note to self- don't wait that long next time.
Since I was out and about I didn't really keep my schedule of eating.
5-5:45 walked
Breakfast 8am. Orange and melba toast
Lunch- 1PM beef pattie and cabbage.
Snack 7PM orange
Dinner 8:30PM Beef pattie and cabbage.
Today was a strange day and last night was a bummer. I was exhausted. I worked for 10 hrs, then bb'sat Lincoln and Owen until 7PM. Was a very long day. After the g'kids left, I cleaned up, vacuumed and dusted. It wiped me out! Then I realized I had not eaten. Wow, how could I skip eating? So I cooked a beef patti and some cabbage and ate an orange. Instantly I felt better.
Walked 5-5:45
BFast apple melba toast
Lunch: chicken tenders and cabbage
Snack-none
Dinner not until 8PM-beef patty and cabbage.
I can't believe how exhausted I feel. Very tired, a little light headed. Arms feel like lead pipes.
The surprise on the scales is just enough for me to forget about any little body issues I am having. (Still having a headache)I guess what I am saying is that I will forgo just about any little discomfort if it helps me loose weight.... is that good? I don't know. But its where I am at.
Down another 3 lbs!! Last night I stayed up late, until about 11PM. I am usually exhausted by 8:30 or 9PM. So I am definitely feeling more energy. I must admit I fell asleep watching Top Chef Just desserts... (why would I watch that while I am dieting?)and woke up to the beginning of Sister Wives. (Strange show). I probably dozed off for about 5-10 minutes is all.
I think my headaches are more from sugar withdrawals and not eating. I am hoping in the next few days that dies down. Last night I was feeling a little leg crampy. It didn't feel like my normal leg crampiness, more like lack of calcium. In the middle of the night, I got a severe arm cramp, it woke me up. Again I tossed and turned but a little less than the night before.
Yesterday I was pretty hungry most of the day. I drank as much water and tea until I felt water logged. It does seem to help though. I ate dinner at 6PM and didn't think I would be able to make it through to bedtime. Thought about eating but was able to push through the urge without too much difficulty. I am hoping that the hunger will go away. When I read or watch you tube, most people say they loose the hunger so I am waiting for that.
SHOT: today I tried to give my shot on the other "side" of my hips. Disaster!!!! Don't do it, stick with what you know works! I plunged the needle in crooked, and my arm twisted a little and I bent the needle. Didn't realize I bent it until I pulled it out and tried to put the cap back on. The needle stuck through the side of the cap. I can feel the injection site a little but not a big deal.
5-5:45 walked
7:30 AM Shot
8AM Breakfast- 1/2 grapefruit and melba toast
10AM Fish & Cabbage
3PM Apple
7:30PM Chicken and tomato
Last night, from about 8PM until I went to sleep I found myself again wanting to eat. I don't think I was hungry but I had an urge to eat. (I was sitting watching Biggest Loser and Colony- maybe that is a hint for me to know when I watch TV I eat??) Instead, I drank two bottled waters and made my way through the urges. About 10:15 I took 2 aspirin and feel asleep on the couch so I went to bed. My night consisted of lots of tossing and turning and not sleeping very soundly. Each time I woke up I was full of energy but most of the time I went back to sleep within 5 minutes. Not sure if this was related to the HCG or just one of those nights......
YEAH! JUMP FOR JOY! HURRAY!
Woke up, bathroom thing, weighed myself.... and
195.6!!! [big smile] Down 3.5 lbs So good to see the scales moving downward!
So I am off to conquer the day... lets see what how it unrolls due to the lack of a good nights sleep.
Day 3 Woke up, bathroom thing, weighed myself. 199lbs. (Whew! I smiled just a little to see GAINED 1.5 lbs. HAHA, never been HAPPY to gain before. But I am glad to see that maybe my "gorging" worked! )
Today is the first DIET day. 500 cal. I haven't really planned out my food except for the fact I went grocery shopping and bought some fruit, salad stuff and Melba toast. I had to go to 4 different stores to find the Melba toast, everyone seemed to be out. First thought was.... is there tons of peeps doing the HCG thing? HA!
So I have another "little" headache this am. Not enough to take any aspirin. I am just wondering if I am going to make it through the day without starving myself. From what I understand, the HCG stores the stuff in your blood so you won't feel "hunger" pangs. The general comments are that you feel your empty stomach, but not hunger pangs. That would be a nice feeling ....
5AM Walk
6AM Shot - still in hip but a little lower this time.
6AM Breakfast: "handful" of strawberries w/ 1/2 tsp trivia, herbal tea. I think
8AM Snack: melba toast
12 PM Lunch: 4 chicken tenders grilled and about 2 cups cabbage, large water
5PM Snack Small orange
6:30PM Supper 4 oz tenderized beef and 1 large tomato melba toast.
How do I feel? Really very good. Except I do have a headache still. Haven't taken anything for it yet.
I found myself getting up from my desk and making my way into the kitchen for food. Luckily I caught myself. I don't think it was from hunger as much as from habit. When I found myself making the way into the kitchen, I just gulped down some water and it took that "urge" away.
I had a sharp pain in my upper R quadrant, it lasted about 5 minutes but it went away. Not sure what it was, but nothing too bad. We'll see if it happens again.
Day 2- aka-the day after 10/10/10.
Bathroom check, a little nervous about the shot but did it again, then scales. 197.6?? Really?
I lost 1/2 lb?? That is not good. I am supposed to gain weight during the "load" days. So whats up with that?
Now my fear is that I will fall into the category of those who do "okay" on the diet, but not well. Dr. Simone says that those who gorge the first two days do better than those who do not...... where will I fall? (rolling my eyes)
5AM Walk
6AM Shot-still looking for the "perfect place to pierce"
Gorge again! A heath bar, 2 more donuts, another piece of cake, chocolate milk, bacon lettuce tomato and cheese sandwich, fritos, 2 apples, 5 Beef taquito's with cheese and hot sauce, 2 popsicles, Again, I have no idea of the calories. Did I eat enough?
Bathroom. Again and again! One big thing I am have used the bathroom about 5 or 6 times today. (A little diarrhea) It feels good to get "stuff"out. I don't know if its the HCG or if I caught some of Kisha's sickness. She had diarrhea this past weekend. Maybe I have a little case of that. I don't feel bad except for a small headache. I don't even feel where I give myself the shot.
Feeling- its weird. I actually feel thinner. Is that a psyche......???? Is it because of the diahrrea or is it because of the shot? I seem to have a little more energy but I am sure this is "all in my head!" I am a little embarrassed to tell people that I am doing the "HCG" thing. Its almost like I want to keep it to myself. It seems such an extreme. So mums the word. If anyone notices or asks, I'll just say I'm on a low cal diet.
So I started on Sunday. I got out of bed, did the bathroom thing and I realized I didn't have a digital scale. So I ran to Wally World and found a pretty nifty one for about $25. I plopped my fat body onto the scale and I weighted 198lbs. Then it was time.......
THE SHOT- I opened the syringe, [needle] filled the shot to 20mg. [needle] tapped out the air, [needle]then started looking at my body.[needle] Where will I give the shot? [needle] The directions say its better to give it into muscle.[needle] Where on earth [needle] can I find some muscle? My leg... ouch. [needle] My arm? Can't quite reach it. [needle] So it took me about 5 minutes to decide where to pierce my body. [needle] Probably half that time was getting up the nerve to do it. [needle] I decided that my backside, well more my hip was a place where there wasn't so much fat. So BANG! right into the skin. I did it. And you know what... it was barely a pin prick. What was I so nervous about?
GORGE yourself. For the first two days you are to engorge yourself. I guess its call "Loading". so today I ate 3 donuts. Plain glazed. 2apples. 2 Root Beers, 2 piece of Cheese, small piece of Birthday cake w/ice cream, large plate of Frito chili pie, covered with cheese. I have no idea of the calories I ate but I felt huge!
I was large and in charge. But not feeling so good.
We'll see what the scales say tomorrow.
This blog is to record my new diet. HCG. Is the final one? Well, that remains to be seen.
I lost about 30 lbs a few months ago. How did I do it? Low calorie, low fat, high protein and exercise. No pills no external help. And it worked. I walked in the am and did Billy Bob's at lunch time and just watched what I ate. Not too difficult and I enjoyed feeling better and "lighter"
But... In the course of 3 mos time, I have gained about 10lbs of it back. I can feel it coming back on. I don't like that feeling. But I still go about my business of eating what I want, when I want and as I put the food into my mouth I don't even care. Why is that? Why is food my enemy? Why is my life full of ups and downs as far as weight? and pretty extreme ones too.
Those are the answers I just don't seem to be able to answer. So, maybe by journaling each day I can answer those questions?
I have decided to go the HCG Diet route. I am a little apprehensive. Shots just don't thrill me. But I've GOT to do something. After talking to Lauren I've decided that maybe the shots won't be so bad.
Cost= $60 for the HCG and enough syringes for 23 days. (Round 1)
So here's a little about the diet.
HCG Diet
The HCG diet is most commonly referring to the British physician, Dr. Simeon’s protocol that he identified in the mid 1950′s. He discovered that when administered daily HCG patients could maintain their health through a low calorie diet, when on a low calorie diet without HCG patients became irritable, had hunger cravings, weakness and/or headaches.
The use of HCG in a diet will dispose of the abnormal fat first, which will allow for a visual transformation of the body. It also helps to correct the patients metabolism which in turn will help the patient from gaining the weight back once off a restricted diet. However, in order to maintain a healthy weight after a weight loss program in any circumstance one must continue to have a well balanced diet.
Dr Simeon’s protocol requires you to eat fruit, vegetables and meat, fish or poultry. There is a vegetarian version as well. You will generally receive the diet information along with your order of HCG as there are some edited versions depending on the supplier.
As with any diet your success is dependent on how closely you abide by the diet plan and consume only food and portion sizes allowed.
One helpful tips when on a diet are to make sure you drink water. Thirst is highly mistaken for hunger so drink up as this is a great way to avoid over snacking. Other things to help when on a diet is to make sure that you span out your meals, eating meals too close together will cause hunger cravings later on. Also make sure that you plan out your meals, knowing what you are going to eat will not tempt you to look through the pantry fr a quick fix. Here is her link:
Losing weight with HCG has been found to be the quickest way to loose weight without sacrificing your health and metabolism. Many people lose a pound a day and sometimes more. Imagine a month from now weighing 30 pounds less!
